We’re supporting Macmillan Cancer Support’s Brave the Shave campaign

This August Clear Systems Director, Nick Rogers, is taking part in Macmillan Cancer Support’s Brave the Shave campaign.

Nick Rogers - Brave the Shave please support me raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support

During August Brave the Shave participants will be standing proudly alongside men and women with cancer whilst raising money so Macmillan Cancer Support can help people take control back from cancer.

We know that cancer can turn the world upside down and that’s especially true when it comes to appearance. Men and women with cancer go through hair loss and changes to their appearance that can affect everything from the way they look, to how they feel. So when they need someone to turn to, Macmillan is here. Right from the moment of diagnosis, through treatment and beyond, we’re here to give people the energy and inspiration to take back control of their life.

Many of us have been touched by cancer in some way. I’m braving the shave in memory of my dad, Alan Rogers, and also by way of thanks for the caring support from the local Macmillan nurses.

It was Dad’s birthday on 4th July and he died just over 13 years ago of Pleural Mesothelioma – a pernicious lung cancer caused by exposure to asbestos.

I’d like to give part what I raise to Meso UK – the charity which supports Mesothelioma victims and research, you can do this at: www.justgiving.com/NickShave.

– but I will leave that up to people how they choose to donate.

If you’re uncertain, then please, please just donate on my Brave the Shave page now at: bravetheshave.org.uk/shavers/nick-rogers.

The shave will take place during the half-time interval at Leamington FC’s home match vs Kettering Town, Tuesday evening, 18th August.

As well as being able to donate on-line there will be forms circulating for cash donations. All donations qualify for Gift Aid.

P.S. I might not have much hair – but the beard is going as well – both are undergoing a concentrated growth regime in order to give Tony Hall’s clippers something to go at!

Nick Rogers.
